Nissei ASB Machine Co., Ltd. has succeeded in molding bottles using 100% biodegradable plastic for the first time in the stretch blow molding industry. The resin, “BioPBS” - produced by a major Japanese chemical company, is a biodegradable plastic which decomposes into water and carbon dioxide when buried in soil. It had previously been said that this resin was not suitable for stretch blow molding due to its high crystalline nature, however, ASB succeeded in molding bottles by use of its proprietary, “4-station, 1-step molding” technology.
